Mack Anthem (An) Recall 24V792: Braking and stability systems may fail, raising crash risk

What this recall means for you

Certain Mack trucks are equipped with a Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that may be affected by electrical noise and a low signal on the power line carrier. This can cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working altogether.

The ECU controls safety systems including Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collision Mitigation System. If these features lose functionality, the risk of a crash increases.

Dealers will reprogram the ECU software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2024. You can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 and reference recall SC0472. You should also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.

Problem
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Anthem, Granite, TerraPro and Pinnacle vehicles, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU). Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.
Risk
Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2024. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0472.
