- Problem
- General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 GMC Sierra EV vehicles. The front turn signal lights and parking lights may be too similar in brightness, making it difficult to see the front turn signals when they are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Risk
- Front turn signals that are difficult to see may not clearly indicate the driver's intentions to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will replace the headlamp multipurpose LED driver (MLD) module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2024. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N242474560.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2024 GMC Sierra EV trucks have front turn signal lights and parking lights that may be too similar in brightness. This makes the turn signals difficult to see when activated, so the vehicle may not clearly show other drivers and road users which way the driver intends to turn. The vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps and reflective devices.
When front turn signals are hard to notice, other road users may not anticipate a turn or lane change, which increases the risk of a crash.
The repair is free. Dealers will replace the headlamp multipurpose LED driver (MLD) module at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2024. To confirm whether your vehicle is included, check your VIN for open recalls or contact GMC customer service at 888-988-7267.
