- Problem
- Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Rogue and 2025 INFINITI QX80 vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Risk
- The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- The in-vehicle infotainment software will be updated by an over-the-air (OTA) software update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R24B3 and R24B4.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
A software error in the infotainment system can cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. The vehicles therefore do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 for rear visibility.
Without the camera image, the driver has less view of what is behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash while backing up. Owners should be cautious when reversing, using mirrors and looking over their shoulder, until the update is installed.
The infotainment software will be updated over the air or by a dealer, at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. To check whether your vehicle is affected, contact Nissan at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI at 1-800-662-6200, or check your VIN for open recalls.
