Chevrolet Silverado 4500 Recall 24V738: Air Bags May Not Deploy in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 24V738, reported October 2, 2024, 25 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain medium-duty trucks may have had their air bag sensing and diagnostic module left inactive during installation. The air bag system may not have been turned on, so the air bags may not deploy in a crash.

Inactive air bags will not deploy in a crash, which increases the risk of injury to occupants. If you own an affected vehicle, check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA's website or through your dealer, and contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 for more information.

The remedy is free: an authorized technician will activate the air bag module at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed November 1, 2024, but if you have not received one, contact Chevrolet customer service to confirm whether your vehicle is included.
