What this recall means for you
Certain door strikers, the metal parts that the door latch catches on, were not properly heat-treated during manufacturing. As a result, they can break over time. A broken striker can cause a door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in use, which increases the risk of injury.
The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will replace all four side door strikers and their attachment bolts at no cost to the owner. According to the manufacturer, all affected vehicles are still in dealership inventory, so owner notification letters are not expected to be mailed. Owners who want more information can call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and reference recall number N242477131.
Even if you have not received a letter, check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website or through your dealer, and schedule the free repair if your vehicle is affected.
