- Risk
- A transmission gear position indicator that fails to illuminate can make it difficult to identify the correct transmission shift position, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will update the instrument panel cluster (IPC) module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 12, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24C32.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
The instrument panel cluster in these stripped chassis vehicles may not properly display the transmission gear position indicator. As a result, the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 102, which covers transmission shift position sequence and starter interlock.
If the gear indicator does not light up, it can be hard to tell which transmission gear is selected. This increases the risk of a crash because the driver may not know the correct shift position.
Dealers will update the instrument panel cluster module software at no cost to you. Owners were mailed notification letters on February 12, 2025. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference Ford recall number 24C32, or check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
