What this recall means for you
Certain electric school buses may be missing a heat shrink insulator and retention clip on the wiring harness. Over time, the 12-volt control wires can deteriorate and loosen, which may cut the connection to the high-voltage batteries and drive power while the bus is operating.
A sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. The recall covers specific model years of the F-59 school bus with Motiv Gen 4 or Gen 5 EPIC powertrains, so owners should check whether their bus is affected.
Motiv field support technicians will inspect the 12-volt control wires and correct or replace any showing fatigue, cracking, or improper retention or protection. The repair is free. Owner notification letters were mailed November 21, 2024. Contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804, and check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
