Motiv F-59 Chassis Recall 24V698: Wiring may loosen, causing loss of drive power and crash risk

What this recall means for you

Certain Motiv electric chassis (2017-2020 E-450 and F-59, and 2020-2023 F-53 and F-59 models with Motiv EPIC powertrains) may be missing a heat shrink insulator and retention clip on the wiring harness. Over time, the 12-volt control wires can deteriorate and loosen, which may cut the connection to the high-voltage batteries and drive power.

A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. If your vehicle is affected, the repair is free: Motiv field support technicians will inspect and correct any loose wiring and replace damaged 12-volt control wires at an authorized location. Owner notification letters were mailed November 21, 2024.

Problem
Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2017-2020 E-450 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 4 EPIC and 2020-2023 F-53 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The wiring harness may be missing a heat shrink insulator and retention clip. The 12-volt control wires may deteriorate and loosen, causing a loss of connection to the high voltage (HV) batteries and drive power.
Risk
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Motiv field support technicians will inspect and correct any loose wiring, and replace damaged 12-volt control wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 21, 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.
