Rivian R1S Recall 24V686: Missing cruise control markings can raise crash risk

NHTSA campaign 24V686, reported September 13, 2024, 33 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 vehicles may have a steering column control module that is missing cruise control markings. Without these markings, the driver may not know how to turn cruise control on or off. The vehicles also do not fully meet the federal standard for vehicle controls and displays.

This matters because a driver who cannot easily tell how to activate or deactivate cruise control may struggle to control the vehicle's speed when it counts, which increases the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer will inspect the steering column control module and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you, at an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed October 18, 2024. You can contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4264 and reference recall FSAM-1532, and you can also check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
