Heartland Torque Recall 24V605: Generator Venting Can Cause Overheating, Fire, or Exhaust Gas Buildup

NHTSA campaign 24V605, reported August 13, 2024, 9 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain travel trailers equipped with an optional Onan 5.5 generator may not have the generator properly vented. As a result, the generator can overheat or fail to release exhaust gases correctly.

An overheating generator raises the risk of fire. Exhaust gases that stay trapped inside the trailer can also increase the risk of injury. Owners should take this recall seriously and stop relying on the generator until it has been checked.

The repair is free. Authorized dealers will correct the generator venting at no cost. Owners who have not received a notice can contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
