What this recall means for you
Certain electric Motiv chassis vehicles have vehicle control software that can misclassify a loss of isolation between the chassis and the high voltage system. When this happens, the high voltage batteries can shut down unexpectedly.
A battery shutdown can cause a loss of power steering, loss of brake power assist, and loss of drive power, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should check their vehicle's VIN for open recalls and watch for any notice from Motiv Power Systems.
The remedy is a free over-the-air software update that Motiv will deliver to the vehicle. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2024. Owners with questions can contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.
