Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Recall 24V520: Loose dashboard bolts and heater wiring can cause fire or air bag issues

NHTSA campaign 24V520, reported July 8, 2024, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2023 GLC 300 4MATIC vehicles may have dashboard-area bolts that were not tightened enough during assembly. Separately, the connections for the 12-Volt electric auxiliary heater may be loose. These problems can cause an air bag to deploy improperly or parts to separate during a crash, and loose connections can cause the wiring to overheat.

An improper air bag deployment raises the risk of injury in a crash, and overheated wiring can increase the risk of a fire. If you own this vehicle, check whether it is affected by this recall using your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup site or at a Mercedes-Benz dealer.

Authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect the dashboard bolts and heater connections and tighten them as needed, at no cost to you. You can also contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-877-496-3691. Owner notification letters were sent on August 23, 2024.
