Fccc S2C Recall 24V511: Brake lights may not light during automatic emergency braking

NHTSA campaign 24V511, reported July 3, 2024, 37 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2025 Freightliner Custom Chassis S2C and S2RV vehicles may have brake lights that fail to illuminate when the automatic braking system (active brake assist) applies the brakes on its own. The brake lights are meant to warn drivers behind you that you are slowing down.

If the brake lights do not come on during an automatic braking event, following drivers may not realize the vehicle is slowing, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the active brake assist software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed August 29, 2024. You can contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 800-745-8000 (recall F1006) and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
