Nissan Sentra Recall 24V498: Windshield Bubbles May Hide VIN and Recall Info

NHTSA campaign 24V498, reported July 1, 2024, 1,608 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2024 Nissan Sentra vehicles may have air bubbles in the windshield on the lower front driver's side. These bubbles can obscure the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which means an owner may have difficulty seeing it clearly and may not realize their vehicle is part of a safety recall. The windshield also does not meet the federal glazing materials safety standard.

The risk is indirect but real: if the VIN cannot be read, an owner may not recognize that their vehicle has an open recall, so the recall repair may not get done. That could increase the risk of injury, fire, or a crash.

Dealers will inspect the windshield and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. Nissan mailed owner notification letters on August 29, 2024. If you have questions, contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 and reference recall number PMA38. You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.

The repair is normally free at an authorized dealer.
