- Component
- TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE
- Problem
- Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2024 Jay Feather travel trailers. A14-inch spare tire was mistakenly installed when the tire placard information is based on a 15-inch tire. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- Risk
- Referring to the placard, the operator can inflate the tire to an incorrect pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will replace the spare tire, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901609.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2024 Jay Feather travel trailers were built with a 14-inch spare tire, even though the tire placard information is based on a 15-inch tire. As a result, the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110, which covers tire selection and rims.
The placard is the guide for how much air to put in a tire. Because it was written for a 15-inch spare, an owner following it could inflate the 14-inch spare to the wrong pressure, which increases the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the spare tire free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. For help, contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267 and reference recall number 9901609. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
