Mcclain Boat Trailer Recall 24V409: Incorrect weight rating label may lead to overloading and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 24V409, reported June 6, 2024, 140 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024 McClain boat trailers (10K, 12K, 15K and 18K models) have an incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) listed on the trailer brake actuator. Because the label shows the wrong rating, the trailer can be loaded beyond its safe limit without the owner realizing it.

An overloaded trailer brake actuator can increase the risk of a crash. If you own one of these trailers, do not exceed the weight limit you know to be correct until you have the corrected label.

McClain Trailers will mail corrected labels to owners free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 23, 2024. To get a replacement label or ask questions, contact McClain Trailers customer service at 1-713-675-2761, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
