IC Bus Cesb Recall 24V375: Brake lights may not light when pedal pressed

NHTSA campaign 24V375, reported May 29, 2024, 319 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024-2025 IC Bus CE school buses may have a software error that causes the brake lights to fail to illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed, under certain conditions. The vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for air brake systems.

If the brake lights do not come on, other drivers may not see that the bus is slowing down or stopping, and the bus itself may be less visible, which increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will update the vehicle software at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 24, 2024. You can contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (Navistar recall number 24508), and you should check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
