- Problem
- Forest River Bus, LLC (Forest River) is recalling certain 2010-2020 Starcraft Prodigy, Quest, and 2013 Rondak school buses. The exterior front roof panel was manufactured with inadequate joint strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
- Risk
- A school bus roof panel with inadequate joint strength may separate during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Dealers will secure the exterior front roof section, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 31, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1782.

What this recall means for you
Certain Starcraft Prodigy, Quest, and Rondak school buses (model years 2010 to 2013) have an exterior front roof panel that was built with inadequate joint strength. The buses do not meet federal school bus body joint strength requirements, so the panel may not hold together as it should.
In a crash, a roof panel that separates increases the risk of injury to students and others on board. Owners should take this recall seriously and schedule the repair promptly.
The repair is free. Authorized dealers will secure the exterior front roof section at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed July 31, 2024.
