Diamond Coach VIP Recall 24V360: Seat Back Can Release in a Crash, Raising Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 24V360, reported May 22, 2024, 10 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2024 VIP 2200 transit buses with GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats may have a recliner mechanism that fails to engage when the seat back is fully reclined. Because of this, the seats do not fully meet federal seat belt anchorage requirements.

If the seat back is fully reclined and force is applied to the shoulder belt, the seat back could release. This increases the risk of injury to the occupant during a crash.

Owners should contact Diamond Coach Corporation at 1-800-442-4645. The repair is free: Diamond Coach will work with the seat manufacturer, Freedman, to inspect and repair the seats as needed at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 13, 2024. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
