Kidron Refrigerated Trailer Recall 24V359: Loose Wheel Lug Nuts Can Cause Wheels to Detach

NHTSA campaign 24V359, reported May 22, 2024, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2024 Kidron refrigerated trailers may have wheel lug nuts that were not tightened properly during assembly or service. Lug nuts that are not tight enough can allow a wheel to become loose or detach from the trailer while it is in use.

A loose or detached wheel increases the risk of a crash, since it can cause loss of control or strike other vehicles and people on the road. If you own or operate one of these trailers, do not delay in having the lug nuts checked.

The recall repair is free. STE Hackney will provide instructions to inspect and tighten the wheel lug nuts as needed, and owners were notified by letter mailed May 28, 2024. You can contact STE Hackney customer service at 1-252-946-6521, and you can check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls.
