Volkswagen ID.4 Recall 24V344: Displays May Go Blank, Hiding Speed and Rear Camera

NHTSA campaign 24V344, reported May 15, 2024, 79,965 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021-2023 Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles may have center and instrument panel displays that fail to boot or sporadically reset. When this happens, the speedometer information can be lost, and the rearview camera image may not appear. Because these displays may not show critical information such as vehicle speed or the view behind the vehicle, the risk of a crash is increased.

Volkswagen will update the vehicle software to correct the problem. The repair is free and will be performed by authorized dealers. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 20, 2024. You can check your VIN for open recalls and contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298, referencing recall 919A.

Until the software update is completed, be aware that your speedometer or rearview camera display may not work as expected, and check your vehicle's speed and surroundings carefully before driving or reversing.
