Micro Bird G5 School Bus Recall 24V297: Power Steering Line Can Leak, Causing Loss of Steering and Brake Assist

NHTSA campaign 24V297, reported April 26, 2024, 89 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The power steering pressure line on these school buses may have an inadequate connection to the brake hydroboost unit. Over time, this can lead to a sudden loss of power steering fluid.

If the fluid is lost suddenly, you can lose both power steering and power brake assist, which makes the bus harder to steer and stop and increases the risk of a crash. Owners who previously had this issue addressed under recall 22V-811 still need the new remedy, even if their bus was already repaired under that recall.

Take the bus to an authorized dealer. The dealer will inspect the power steering lines and replace them as needed at no cost to you. Owners can also contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012, and you can check your VIN for any open recalls.
