Kawasaki ZR900C Recall 24V270: Front Tire Inner Wall Can Blister and Fail, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 24V270, reported April 16, 2024, 525 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The front tire on these motorcycles may blister on its inner surface. The blistering is caused by an improper manufacturing process during installation of the tire's sidewall rubber. Because the tire does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 119 for new pneumatic tires, the motorcycle is not compliant with federal requirements.

A tire with inner wall blistering can fail, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk when riding.

The remedy is free: authorized dealers will replace the front tires at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 13, 2024. You can also contact Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. customer service at 1-866-802-9381, referencing recall number DAL491A. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your motorcycle is affected.
