What this recall means for you
Certain heavy trucks may have a steering gear sector shaft that was improperly heat-treated during manufacturing. Over time, the gear teeth inside the steering gear can crack or fracture.
If the steering gear teeth fracture, the driver can lose steering control, which raises the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the steering gear serial numbers and replace the steering gear where needed, at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed August 7, 2024. To check whether your truck is included, contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220, or check your VIN for open recalls.
