- Problem
- Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2023 Basecamp 16 & 16X travel trailers. The metric and imperial GAWR values were transposed. As such, these trailers fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- Risk
- An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Airstream will mail corrected labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2024. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

What this recall means for you
Some 2023 Airstream Basecamp travel trailers were built with the metric and imperial gross axle weight rating (GAWR) values transposed on the certification label. As a result, the trailers do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110, which covers tire selection and rims.
Because the label shows the wrong axle weight limits, an owner could unknowingly load the trailer beyond its safe capacity. An overloaded trailer increases the risk of a crash.
Airstream will mail corrected labels free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2024. To get a replacement label, contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111, ext. 7401 or 7411. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
