Mack MD Recall 24V167: Parking Brake Light May Show Wrong Status, Risking Rollaway

NHTSA campaign 24V167, reported March 1, 2024, 117 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain vehicles, the parking brake indicator light may show the brake as applied when it is not, because of an incorrect park brake pressure switch. This mismatch can leave a driver believing the brake is set when it is not.

If the light misreports the brake status, the vehicle could roll away after being parked, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners should be alert to any parking brake warning that does not match how the brake actually feels or behaves.

Dealers will inspect the park brake pressure switch and replace it if needed, at no charge to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 11, 2024. You can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
