Mercedes-Benz Tourrider Premium Recall 24V141: Wheelchair lift barrier may deploy unexpectedly, risking injury

What this recall means for you

Certain 2022-2024 Mercedes-Benz Tourrider Business and Premium vehicles equipped with BraunAbility wheelchair lifts may have an outer barrier that deploys unexpectedly. This means the lift platform may not securely hold a wheelchair, and the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 403 for platform lift systems.

If the outer barrier deploys unexpectedly, a wheelchair may not be retained properly on the platform, which increases the risk of injury to the person using the lift.

The repair is free. Dealers will relocate the ground sensing pressure switch at no charge. Owners who received the notification mailed March 26, 2024 can contact Daimler Coaches customer service at 1-416-624-3558 and reference recall number TI 86.10T24282A. You can also check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.

Problem
Daimler Coaches North America (Daimler Coaches) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Mercedes Benz Tourrider Business and Mercedes Benz Tourrider Premium vehicles equipped with BraunAbility wheelchair lifts. The outer barrier may deploy unexpectedly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, "Platform Lift Systems."
Risk
Unexpected outer barrier deployment may result in the platform not securely retaining the wheelchair, increasing the risk of injury to lift occupants.
Remedy
Dealers will relocate the ground sensing pressure switch, free of charge. Owner notification were mailed March 26, 2024. Owners may contact Daimler Coaches customer service at 1-416-624-3558. Daimler Coaches number for this recall is TI 86.10T24282A.
