Lexus ES Recall 24V124: Rearview Camera May Not Display Right Away in Reverse

NHTSA campaign 24V124, reported February 21, 2024, 18,616 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023 and 2024 Lexus ES, LS, and LC models, along with the 2023 Toyota Mirai, have a parking-assist software programming error. The rearview camera image may not appear within a couple of seconds after the vehicle is shifted into reverse, so these vehicles do not fully meet federal rear visibility requirements.

Without an immediate camera image, the driver's view behind the vehicle is reduced, which increases the risk of a crash, particularly when backing up near people, children, or objects.

Dealers will update the parking assist software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024. You can contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331, and you should check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
