Vicinity VI35 Recall 24V092: Gas Tanks May Rub and Leak, Creating Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 24V092, reported February 8, 2024, 14 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2022 Vi35 transit buses may have inadequate clearance between the compressed natural gas (CNG) tanks and their supporting mounting structure or safety cables. Contact could damage the tanks.

A damaged CNG tank can leak natural gas, which increases the risk of a fire. Owners should watch for any sign of a gas leak or damage and contact the dealer promptly.

An authorized dealer will inspect and adjust the mounting structure as an interim repair, free of charge. If the mounting structure cannot be adjusted, do not drive the vehicle until the supporting member is replaced. The final repair, which includes securing the safety cables, adding protective material to the tank, and replacing the mounting structure and CNG tanks as needed, will be free once available. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2024, and you can contact Vicinity customer service at 1-604-607-4000 (recall CA-000-051) for more information.
