Kia Telluride Recall 24V077: Engine valve springs can break, causing power loss and fire risk

NHTSA campaign 24V077, reported February 7, 2024, 2,872 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024 Kia Telluride vehicles may have engine valve springs that break while driving. A broken spring can cause a loss of drive power and may create a hole in the engine block.

Loss of drive power raises the risk of a crash, and a hole in the engine block raises the risk of a fire. If your vehicle loses power or you notice unusual engine noise, pull over safely when it is practical to do so and contact your dealer.

Dealers will replace the engine sub-assembly free of charge. Owners who have not received a notice can contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 and reference recall SC296. You can also check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website.
