Kia EV6 Recall 24V057: Drive Shaft May Break, Causing Loss of Power

NHTSA campaign 24V057, reported January 31, 2024, 1,243 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some drive shafts in these electric vehicles may have been improperly heat-treated. A weakened drive shaft can break under load, which causes a loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion.

Losing drive power raises the risk of a crash, especially in traffic or at highway speeds where sudden loss of propulsion can leave you unable to accelerate or maintain safe speed. If you experience a sudden loss of drive power, safely pull over as soon as you can and contact a Kia dealer or Kia customer service.

The repair is free. Authorized Kia dealers will replace the drive shaft at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2024. You can also contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542, and check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
