New Flyer XE35 Recall 24V056: Battery Coolant Can Leak and Cause Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 24V056, reported January 31, 2024, 337 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some transit buses have drain valves in the traction battery pack that may not open as intended. If the valves do not activate, liquid can build up inside the battery pack enclosure. That liquid can cause an electrical short, which increases the risk of a fire.

The remedy is free. New Flyer will remove the rubber washer from the affected drain valves. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 14, 2024. Owners can also contact New Flyer customer service at 1-204-224-6706 and reference recall number R24-02. Some vehicles are also covered by NHTSA recall 23V-083, and those vehicles will need both remedies performed. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
