Freightliner M2 Recall 23V895: Shifter May Show PARK When Transmission Is in NEUTRAL

NHTSA campaign 23V895, reported December 22, 2023, 2,547 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2024 Freightliner M2 trucks may have a gear shifter with a PARK position even though the transmission has no park pawl. When the shifter is placed in PARK, the transmission can actually be in NEUTRAL, so the vehicle may roll away unexpectedly, raising the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, check your VIN for open recalls. An authorized dealer will inspect the transmission gear shifter and replace it if needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed April 4, 2024.

You can contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 for more information about this recall, which is identified by DTNA as FL991.
