What this recall means for you
The red beacon lights on the Threshold Warning System of certain 9700 buses may not be bright enough. This means the lights may be hard to see for passengers using the wheelchair lift or ramp, and the buses do not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 403 for platform lift systems.
When the beacons do not give proper illumination, wheelchair lift users may not notice the warning, which increases the risk of injury.
Owners will receive a free replacement of the red beacons. Owner letters were mailed September 16, 2024. For questions, contact Volvo Bus customer service at 1-866-870-2043 and reference recall SR24-81. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
