Prevost H3-45 Recall 23V889: Red Warning Lights May Be Too Dim for Wheelchair Lift Users

NHTSA campaign 23V889, reported December 22, 2023, 2,100 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The red beacon lights on the Threshold Warning System, which alert wheelchair lift users when they are near the edge of the lift platform, may not be bright enough to be seen reliably. Because the lights do not meet the illumination requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 403 for platform lift systems, the affected vehicles do not comply with that standard.

When the beacons are not clearly visible, wheelchair lift users may be less likely to notice the warning, which increases the risk of injury while using the lift.

According to the notice, Prevost will replace the red beacons free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 16, 2024. You can contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046 and reference recall SR24-03. Also check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
