Airstream Base Camp Recall 23V860: Spare tire bracket can break and let the tire detach

NHTSA campaign 23V860, reported December 19, 2023, 1,587 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The spare tire carrier bracket on certain Airstream Basecamp travel trailers may develop metal fatigue and break. If that happens, the spare tire can separate from the trailer while driving.

A detached spare tire can land on the road and become a hazard to other drivers, which raises the risk of a crash.

Authorized Airstream dealers will inspect the bracket and replace it and add support as needed, at no cost to you. Owners were notified by letter dated February 16, 2024. To check whether your trailer is affected, contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411, and check your VIN for open recalls.
