What this recall means for you
A rear lifting bracket on the engine cylinder head may not be secured properly and can detach. The problem only matters when the engine is being lifted, since a detached bracket can cause the engine to fall or swing.
An engine falling or swinging during a lift creates a risk of serious injury to anyone working near the vehicle. Owners and service workers should avoid lifting the engine until the bracket has been checked.
An authorized Cummins dealer will inspect the rear lifting bracket and replace the flanged stud if needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed December 8, 2023. You can also contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall FL983, or check your VIN for open recalls.
