Honda Civic Recall 23V704: Steering rack may rub tire, risking tire failure

NHTSA campaign 23V704, reported October 19, 2023, 264,567 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some Honda Civics that received a replacement power steering rack during a service repair may have a rack that was incorrectly assembled. This can allow the tire to chafe against the lower suspension or tie rod end, which may damage the tire.

A damaged tire can fail, which increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Authorized Honda dealers will inspect the electric power steering rack and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. Owner letters were mailed January 16, 2024. You can also contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, and check your VIN for open recalls.
