Dodge Hornet Recall 23V696: Pedestrian warning siren may fail when reversing

NHTSA campaign 23V696, reported October 17, 2023, 4,661 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid vehicles may have a pedestrian alert siren that is missing or disconnected. When the vehicle is in reverse, the siren may fail to sound, so pedestrians may not be warned that the vehicle is backing up. The vehicles also do not meet the sound requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 141 for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Without this audible warning, backing up increases the risk of injury to pedestrians nearby.

An authorized dealer will inspect the rear pedestrian siren connection and, if needed, secure or replace the connector or siren at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed November 14, 2023. To confirm whether your vehicle is affected, check your VIN for open recalls, or contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (Chrysler recall number B5A).
