Volvo VNL Recall 23V689: Stability control may fail, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 23V689, reported October 13, 2023, 29 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A software programming error can cause the electronic stability control (ESC) system to be inoperative. ESC helps the truck keep its stability and control during emergency maneuvers or slippery conditions, so when it is disabled, the risk of a crash increases.

An authorized dealer will reprogram the control unit software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 3, 2023. If you have questions, you can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2310.

If you own a 2024 Volvo VNL or VNR, check your VIN for open recalls and schedule the free software update with an authorized Volvo dealer as soon as possible.
