Hyundai Translead 20'/40' 12PIN Exten Chass Recall 23V685: Cross Braces May Detach, Risking Crashes and Brake Lock

NHTSA campaign 23V685, reported October 12, 2023, 562 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain extended chassis trailers have cross braces above the air tanks that may have been improperly welded. A poorly welded brace can break loose from the vehicle, creating a road hazard for other drivers. A falling brace can also damage the air tank airline, which may cause the brakes to lock unintentionally. Either scenario can increase the risk of a crash.

Owners are advised not to drive affected vehicles until the repair has been performed. The repair is free: Hyundai Translead will work with owners and repair shops to apply welds and install brackets on the cross braces at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed October 19, 2023.

If you own an affected chassis, contact Hyundai Translead customer service at 1-800-251-0871 to schedule the repair. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
