Lightning Emotors FT3-40 Recall 23V678: Brake, Park and ABS Warning Lights May Not Light Up

NHTSA campaign 23V678, reported October 9, 2023, 239 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The instrument cluster in certain Lightning eMotors FT3 vehicles may fail to turn on the Brake, Park, and ABS warning lights during the startup light check when the ignition is switched to the on (run) position. These vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 105 for hydraulic and electric brake systems.

If these warning lights do not illuminate at startup, the driver may not be warned of a brake, parking brake, or anti-lock braking system failure, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the software free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 1, 2023. You can also contact Lightning eMotors customer service at 1-970-744-7241, and check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
