Hyundai Kona Recall 23V650: Rear Seat Belts May Fail to Restrain Passengers in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 23V650, reported September 22, 2023, 2,354 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Rear seat belt retractors in the left and right rear seats may not work properly. Because of this, the belts may not meet federal seat belt and occupant crash protection requirements.

A rear seat belt that does not function correctly may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should not wait to have this checked.

Authorized Hyundai dealers will inspect the seat belt retractors and replace them as needed, free of charge. Owners who received a notification letter mailed November 21, 2023 can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (recall number 250).
