Jeep Wrangler Recall 23V641: Rearview camera and reverse lights may fail in reverse

NHTSA campaign 23V641, reported September 18, 2023, 6,298 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles with a manual transmission may have a fault that causes the rearview camera to fail to show the image when the vehicle is in reverse. The reverse lights may also fail to illuminate when the vehicle is in reverse. This means the driver may have less view of what is behind the vehicle, and others may not be alerted that the vehicle is backing up, which increases the risk of injury or a crash.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will replace the gear position sensor at no charge to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed November 16, 2023. If you have questions, you can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer as soon as possible. Until the repair is done, check carefully behind the vehicle by looking over your shoulder and using your mirrors before backing up.
