What this recall means for you
Water can leak into the rearview camera because of a manufacturing error. When this happens, the camera image may not appear on the display, so the driver has less view behind the vehicle. The vehicle also fails to meet federal rear visibility requirements.
A rearview camera that does not show an image reduces what you can see behind your vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash while backing up.
An authorized Kia dealer will inspect the rearview camera and add extra waterproofing to the camera harness, or replace the camera if needed. The repair is free. Owner notification letters were mailed March 8, 2024. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls or contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542, referencing recall SC282.
