What this recall means for you
On certain 2022 and 2023 Jeep Compass vehicles, the brightness of the instrument panel cluster may not be adjustable because of incorrect software in the body control module. The display may be too dim to clearly show critical information such as the speedometer and warning lights.
When the instrument panel is not bright enough, drivers may have difficulty seeing their speed or important warning indicators. This increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this issue, especially when driving in bright daylight or at night.
The remedy is free of charge. An authorized dealer will update the body control module software. Owner notification letters were mailed August 29, 2023. You can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403, referencing recall number 88A, or check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
