Ford F-250 SD Recall 23V573: Rearview Camera May Not Show Correct View When Using Trailer Hitch Assist

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023 Ford Super Duty pickups equipped with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature may not display the default rearview camera image while that feature is in use. The camera view shown to the driver may be incorrect, which reduces what the driver can see behind the vehicle.

When the rearview view is incorrect or missing, the driver has less visibility of the area behind the truck, which increases the risk of a crash or injury, particularly when backing up. If your truck has Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, be extra careful checking your surroundings by mirrors and by looking over your shoulder when reversing until the fix is made.

The repair is free. An authorized Ford dealer will update the software in the Advanced Drive Assistance System (ADAS) module. Owner notification letters were mailed December 5, 2023. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall 23S46), and check your VIN for any open recalls.

Problem
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 F-Super Duty F250, F350, and F450 vehicles equipped with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature. The default rearview camera image may not be displayed when using the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature.
Risk
An incorrect rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy
Dealers will update the Advanced Drive Assistance System (ADAS) module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 5, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S46.
