Chevrolet Bolt EV Recall 23V567: Passenger Air Bag May Not Deploy Properly in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 23V567, reported August 10, 2023, 317 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2022-2023 Chevrolet Bolt EVs may have an instrument panel missing the perforation on the underside of the panel cover that lets the passenger-side air bag deploy correctly. The panel cover is the part the air bag must push through when it inflates.

If the air bag does not deploy properly in a crash, the risk of injury to the passenger goes up. Owners should not wait to have this checked.

Take your vehicle to an authorized Chevrolet dealer, where the instrument panel will be replaced free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 21, 2023. You can also contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and check your VIN for open recalls.
