What this recall means for you
A spare tire mounted on the rear of certain vehicles may block the view of the center high-mount brake light. The brake light is required to be visible to drivers behind the vehicle, so when it is obstructed, others may not see that you are slowing or stopping. This reduced visibility increases the risk of a rear-end crash.
The remedy is free of charge. An authorized dealer will replace the spare tire carrier assembly. Owners who have not received a notification letter can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 84A. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
