Hyundai Translead DRY Van Trailer Recall 23V543: Steering Arm Can Fracture and Separate, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 23V543, reported August 2, 2023, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain trailers equipped with Dexter Smart-Steer 2.0 axles that use bolt-on steering arms, the steering arm may fracture under certain conditions, such as low speed and high side-loading. When this happens, the fractured steering arm and tie rod can separate and fall to the ground.

A separated steering arm and tie rod increase the risk of a crash. If you own an affected trailer, contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible. Dealers will install a new steering arm and additional welds at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed August 7, 2023.

To find out whether your trailer is included, check your VIN for open recalls and contact Hyundai Translead customer service at 1-800-251-0871.
